Our sun protection products protect your skin from damaging UVA and UVB rays. UVB rays are what cause skin to tan, and also cause sunburn. UVA rays penetrate deep into the skin and cause sun-related skin ageing.

Skin’s own sun protection capacity
Sun protection products can help you “extend” your skin’s own sun protection capacity. How long you can stay out in the sun depends primarily on your skin’s own capacity for protection. This is the length of time for which you can stay in the sun without sun protection and without causing damage to your skin, and varies considerably depending on your skin type.
Sun protection factor
The sun protection factor (SPF) is the factor by which that unprotected period in the sun can be extended. If you use a sunscreen with SPF 15, for example, you can stay in the sun 15 times longer than you would be able to without any form of protection at all.
Light surfaces such as snow, ice, sand, concrete and water reflect UV rays and so can double the sun’s intensity.
A person with skin type II can stay in the sun for 5-10 minutes without burning. Protected by a sun milk with an SPF of 30, that person will be able to stay in the sun for no more than 2.5 hours (5 x 30 = 150 minutes).
Avoid the risk of sunburn and seek the shade on sunny days, preferably before your sun protection runs out. Your skin will thank you for it.
Re-applying sunscreen does not prolong protection, but merely maintains it. Regular re-applications are important! Swimming, sweating and towel-drying all diminish the level of protection.
